The MY6 Motor Yacht, designed by Fountaine Pajot, will be on display in Palma during Open Days. These exclusive days are a chance to discover the motor catamaran of your choice. Our dealers are at your disposal to guide you in your acquisition project.

Here’s a look back at power & motoryacht magazine’s test of this innovative motor catamaran by fountaine pajot…

MY6 – unrivalled space

“The MY6 is different because it has a full-length owner’s cabin with a portside entrance through the aft galley. The main berth is cross-shaped, making the best use of the space. The head compartment at the front of the cabin is a comfortable size.

In the starboard hull, there are in fact two cabins, transverse beds. There’s a fourth cabin forward of the saloon, with a double berth, but Fountaine Pajot doesn’t hesitate to describe it as a crew station or children’s room. Nobody asks me, but I’d gladly take this cabin. With its headroom and reading lamps, it looks like a comfortable place to isolate yourself with a book.

The MY6’s main social space is the flybridge. With plenty of seating around the aft reception and lounging area, and a large sunbathing area with fold-down backrests, the flybridge is a superb all-round place to enjoy the sun and the view.”

The very exception of motor catamarans

“One of the biggest differences between this motor yacht and others intended for charter is the level of layout and finishes on board. Whereas some catamarans give the impression that their cabins could be hosed down at the end of a week on board, the MY6 is more comparable to modern motor yachts of much greater overall length.”

An international dimension, a worldwide success

“On the day of the test, a team of marine journalists from all over the world were assigned time on the boat. A stream of languages and accents ranging from Italian and Dutch to German and New Yorkese hinted at the MY6’s international appeal. Indeed, of the eight boats sold, each is destined for an owner in a different country.

Revving the engines, with the rest of the crew relaxing throughout the MY6, the boat easily climbed to 25 knots, without the bow rising perceptibly when launched (another advantage of twin hulls).

The turns were tight and gentle. There was little chop during the test, and the MY6 leaves such a light wake that running the boat in circles to try and simulate sea conditions was not helpful. Nevertheless, it’s fair to say that this boat is solidly built. As for the pods, with 20 knots of wind, they moved the boat admirably in any desired direction. The combination of IPS and multihulls is actually a winning one, with the pods seeming to take advantage of the leverage offered by the space not available on most monohull installations.”

The MY6 – the motor yacht with elegant design and distinctive style

“We’re not rebranding a boat with a cut mast. This is a two-hulled power boat, with all the advantages of a catamaran, such as a huge galley, a flybridge, as well as the seaworthiness and stability for which these boats are renowned.

Looking at the power cat and then its modern lines, I realize that the Fountaine Pajot MY6, like the city of Mallorca, could well be the combination of heritage and modern comfort that stands the test of time.”

The MY6 is definitely the power catamaran that appeals to many owners thanks to its charisma, personality and manoeuvrability.
